Rose is a playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in Bristol, UK. Her work blends dark comedy with elevated genre storytelling to offer a fresh perspective on (often, female) subjectivity and subversion.
As a screenwriter, she currently has a number of projects in development, including a horror limited series about Pre-Raphaelite models, The Veil, in partnership with Rachel Talalay (Marakanda Entertainment Inc). She shot her second short as director, 'Ansokan', in 2022, with Swedish production company Craeby Productions and support from the Swedish Film Institute. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, where she was awarded the Jacob Zilber scholarship for showing ‘exceptional promise as a writer for screen and television.’
Rose spent a number of years in Beijing, China where alongside learning Chinese, writing and eating a lot of dumplings she worked teaching English to Chinese actors on film sets and translating Chinese soap operas for various African nations. The strangeness of language, misunderstandings both tragic and comic, and the delicious elusiveness of story-making across borders, are themes in both her life and work.
